A FAMILY OF DOGS

The genesis for this memoir was the death of our beloved dog, Max, a tough little guy. Rescued from certain death by my wife twelve years ago, he was a gentle, loving dog, adored by all.
As we talked to our friends and family, we received many “so sorry” comments, but also stories about the death of their own dogs, and how difficult the experience was for each of them.
What is it about dogs that endear them so? I interviewed the members of our extended family and heard time and again about their dog — always there, always glad to see them, and it hit me, dogs provide unconditional love. |
